Referral to Advisory Commission -Consider Referring ~~Wel- <br />come to Roseville" Signs Project to the Appropriate Advisory <br />Commission(s) <br />Mayor Klausing invited Mr. Myllenbeck to speak, to continue discus- <br />sions originally begun by Councilmember Kough. <br />Mr. Myllenbeck provided a bench handout for distribution. <br />Wally Myllenbeck, 778 Grandview Avenue W <br />Mr. Myllenbeck advised that he was the President of the Roseville <br />Lion's Club and was here tonight speaking on behalf of the Roseville <br />Lion's Club, Rotary, Kiwanis, V.F.W., Golden K Kiwanis and Ameri- <br />can Legion service clubs. <br />Mr. Myllenbeck read one of the goal statements of the Imagine Rose- <br />ville 2025 community visioning process regarding making Roseville a <br />welcoming community and challenged the community and City <br />Council to "prove it." Mr. Myllenbeck encouraged erecting four wel- <br />come signs at the City's four boundaries so people knew where they <br />were when they entered the community. Mr. Myllenbeck proposed a <br />sign similar to the one designed for Central Park with a display board <br />at the bottom of the sign for the emblems of the five service clubs <br />(Rotary, Kiwanis, Lion's American Legion and V.F.W.). Mr. <br />Myllenbeck advised that the clubs would furnish the logos, attach <br />them and maintain them. Mr. Myllenbeck further suggested that in <br />addition to "Welcome to Roseville" the signs should state "The City <br />of Roses," a former slogan in the City and include a large, red rose to <br />set off the sign. <br />Mr. Myllenbeck indicated the rationale for proposing those five clubs <br />and provided a list of just a portion of the community activities for <br />which the clubs had provided financial assistance, support or partici- <br />
