City C®uncii Study Sessi®n <br />1VI®nday, August 20, 200'7 <br />Page 6 <br />ask questions of them on August 27, 2007; and was not prepared to <br />pick a range for a steering committee until her review was completed. <br />Councilmember Ihlan expressed interest in involvement of more, <br />rather than fewer committee members, opining that she saw no need <br />to limit the size of the group. <br />iscussi®n specific t® the C®ns ltant Seecti® r®cess <br />Councilmember Ihlan opined that it was her understanding that the <br />City Council would have an opportunity to review proposals in addi- <br />tion to the staff-prepared matrix; and that proposers would be avail- <br />able for Council questions at the August 27, 2007 meeting, rather than <br />having a structured interview time prior to that meeting, and struc- <br />tured similar to commission applicant interviews. <br />Mayor Klausing noted that it was the intent that the consultants be <br />available for Council questions during the schedule interview time, as <br />well as during the regular business meeting on August 27tH <br />Staff was requested to have consultants available during the regular <br />business meeting on August 27th. <br />Councilmember Ihlan expressed frustration that she had not been con- <br />sulted regarding her schedule prior to the arbitrary selection of a 5:00 <br />p.m. interview schedule; and spoke in support of a process similar to <br />that followed by the City Council when interviewing for a City Attor- <br />ney and Recycling firm. <br />Mayor Klausing indicated that the City Council was free to ask any <br />questions during the interview process, or at the regular meeting. <br />Discussion included availability of Councilmembers for the 5:00 p.m. <br />scheduled interview time; other available options; rationale for sched- <br />uling additional interview time due to additional agenda items at the <br />August 27th meeting; and potential items that could be shifted to a <br />later meeting from the August 27th meeting. <br />Additional discussion included other significant discussion items <br />scheduled for the August 27th meeting. <br />
