Mr. Darrow noted the expanded purpose of <br />the meeting was to allow the consultant to present objectives of the <br />Comprehensive Plan; involve citizens; and open discussion on land <br />use to-date; and a proposed timeframe to accomplish the Update. <br />Discussion included the need to have the steering committee in place <br />before the proposed September 19th kick-off date, pending sufficient <br />time for advertising for members; with Mayor Klausing noting to- <br />night's discussion for those listening, encouraging people to apply. <br />Councilmember Roe opined the need for Council consensus on the <br />scope of the Comprehensive Plan Update by September 10th at the lat- <br />est. <br />1VIr. Darrow noted that, between the Council's award to a consultant <br />and the September 10, 2007 regular City Council meeting, staff would <br />be negotiating a contract with the consultant, and proposed milestones <br />to be achieved, based on City Council direction. <br />® resentati®n - resentati® ®f ®t Split Study I~Text Steps <br />Economic Development Associate Jamie Rade1 advised that, since the <br />June 18, 2007 formal City Council acceptance of the Single -family <br />Residential Lot Split Study Report, no further direction to staff had <br />been provided for the next steps on the report's recommendations. <br />Councilmember Pust recommended that staff be directed to move <br />forward with consensus recommendations in the Report, dated May <br />14, 2007, Section B (Subdivision Code), #2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, and Sec- <br />tion C (Zoning Code), #4, 5 and 6; and provide various language <br />amendments to the existing subdivision and/or zoning ordinances for <br />City Council review and consideration. Councilmember Pust noted <br />that by the City Council not taking action on other items, they were in <br />effect supporting the report's majority recommendations. Council- <br />member Pust further suggested directing staff to develop items de- <br />tailed in Section D, Other City Standards and Ordinances, as outlined <br />in the report to 1) create incentives for environmentally friendly de- <br />velopment practices; 2) create a tree preservation and replacement or- <br />dinance. Councilmember Pust noted that the items in Section D <br />
