Ms. Bosch further <br />questioned how the media had been made aware of the routine traffic <br />stop; and opined that with the recent community visioning process, <br />this was a very serious issue, and spoke volumes about Roseville's <br />quality of life and diversity of community and community relation- <br />ships. <br />Mayor Klausing thanked Ms. Bosch for her comments; and suggested <br />that additional follow-up conversations be held outside of the meeting <br />context. <br />Councilmember Pust noted the respect that Ms. Bosch had exhibited <br />in her comments, and thanked her far that. Councilmember Pust ex- <br />pressed her fervent support of the City's Police officers and the work <br />they do, and expressed hope that all citizens recognized the impor- <br />tance of their work. Councilmember Pust opined that there appeared <br />to be two issues as the community and staff grappled with a topic ripe <br />for public discussion: <br />1) Folding people accountable for their actions as representatives of <br />the community; and opined that the Police Department would wel- <br />come discussion of their work, diversity training and community <br />relationship-building. <br />2) Given what happened last week with the collapse of the I-35W <br />bridge, it was imperative that officers be allowed to do their jobs <br />without being put in more dangerous situations; and the need to de- <br />fine the role of acitizen-observer, and someone interfering with <br />performance of the officer's duties. <br />Ms. Bosch concurred with Councilmember Pust's summary of issues. <br />Councilmember Kough thanked Ms. Bosch for speaking at the meet- <br />ing; expressed his appreciation for the work performed by the City's <br />Police Department; and expressed his personal frustration with hear- <br />ing about the situation through the media rather than through the City <br />Manager's office. <br />Councilmember Ihlan echoed concerns that she'd learned of the situa- <br />tion in the newspaper.
