12egular City C®uncil eeting <br />IVI®nciay, July 23, 2007 <br />Page 29 <br />Councilmember Kough opined that the City Council should be in- <br />volved in the interview process and have the final say. <br />Mayor Klausing advised that a future discussion could be held; how- <br />ever, noted that under Minnesota State Statute, Statutory Plan B Cit- <br />ies, it was the responsibility of the City Manager for hiring and firing, <br />with the exception of the City Attorney and the City Manager posi- <br />tion. <br />Councilmember Ihlan observed that, while there was both internal and <br />external involvement in the previous selection for a Community De- <br />velopment Director, she was not personally kept informed during the <br />process; and opined that individual Councilmembers and the Council <br />as a whole should be included in the process and interactions. Coun- <br />cilmember Ihlan suggested that this be discussed further by the City <br />Council during the interim period. <br />City Manager Malinen encouraged individual Councilmembers to <br />provide him with their input regarding attributes, priorities, skill sets <br />and other areas of interest to seek in potential candidates. <br />Councilmember Pust asked, and City Manager Malinen confirmed, <br />that Councilmembers could provide their comment on the Job De- <br />scription dated May 2006, and included in the Council Agenda packet. <br />Klausing moved, Roe seconded, authorizing the City Manager to exe- <br />cute an agreement between the City of Roseville and Short, Elliot and <br />Hendrickson (S.E.H.) for Interim Community Development Director <br />services in an amount not to exceed $50,000 to assist the City while <br />conducting a search for a new Community Development Director. <br />oll Call <br />Ayes: Pust; Roe; Ihlan; Kough; and Klausing. <br />l~Tays: None. <br />s. esolution - Adopt a esolution Approving a Final Plat and va- <br />cation o Certain asernents for oaten, I,P at 2335 i~ way <br />36 (Former Consent Item 9.s) <br />
