Special City Council Meeting <br />Minutes of 10/01/07 <br />Page 11 <br />Mayor Klausing noted, and Public Works Director Duane Schwartz who was in <br />the audience, confirmed that Ramsey County had already acquired the rail line <br />from Hennepin County to the west. <br />Councilmember Roe identified Item 11.A.1.a (page 43) related to roundabouts be- <br />ing akey transportation solution; and also echoed Councilmember Pust's query of <br />staff to clarify the status for funding acity-wide traffic model, identified in Item <br />11.B.1.b. Councilmember Roe further identified Item 11.B.1.b regarding reloca- <br />tion of park and ride facilities. <br />Councilmember Ihlan note that one of her top five priorities was Item 11.D.6, <br />creation of walkable neighborhoods; along with Item 11.D.6.a, creation of a side- <br />walk/trail installation program; Item 11.D.6.b, requirement of new developments <br />to create and dedicate paths and sidewalks; and Item 11.D.7, working with other <br />units of government to develop and connect trail systems. Councilmember lhlan <br />noted that Item 11.B.6.c related to working with Metro Transit to improve and <br />expand local bus service had narrowly missed her top five list, opining that if pub- <br />lic transportation is made more convenient and feasible to use, it would have more <br />riders. Councilmember Ihlan also spoke in support of Item 11.B.8.a for expansion <br />of park and ride facilities, which may have been accomplished for short-term <br />needs due to the recent collapse of the I-35W bridge. <br />Mayor Klausing identified Item 11.B.4.b, referencing Councilmember Kough's <br />previous comments. <br />12) Roseville has well-maintained, efficient, and cost-effective public infrastruc- <br />ture (pages 47 - 48) <br />Councilmembers Kough, Ihlan and Pust, along with Mayor Klausing, identified <br />no specific items. <br />Councilmember Roe identified no specific items, other than to note his support of <br />awell-maintained public infrastructure. <br />Technologv <br />13) Roseville has technology that gives us a competitive advantage (pages 48-49) <br />There were no specific comments related to this goal. <br />Finance and Revenue <br />14) Roseville has a growing, diverse and stable revenue base (pages 49 - 50) <br />Councilmember Roe identified Item 14.C.1.d (page 50). <br />Councilmembers lhlan and Kough identified no specific items. <br />Councilmember Pust identified Item 14.A.1.b for establishing a budget priority <br />for existing assets over proposed ones. <br />
