Special City Council Meeting <br />Minutes of 10/01/07 <br />Page 3 <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in support of 1.A.2.b (page 2) that closer follow-up <br />of community attitudes and issues be pursued pro-actively addressed, rather than <br />heard in public comment at the City Council level. Councilmember Kough also <br />opined that all Council ideas didn't need to go before staff for their recommenda- <br />tions, but should be brought forward by individual Councilmembers, and if re- <br />ceiving majority support, then proceed to staff. <br />Mayor Klausing had not ranked his items; however, had highlighted and opined <br />them extremely important: Items 1.A.5.a. (page 3) related to conducting a com- <br />munity survey to identify under-represented groups in the community and to en- <br />courage interaction; and Item 1.A.7.a (page 5) related to conducting a broad sur- <br />vey of the City climate and needs. Mayor Klausing spoke in support of student <br />leadership programs as mentioned by Councilmember Pust. <br />Councilmember Roe spoke in support of Item 1.A.3 (page 2) regarding the City <br />Help Desk, or a dedicated employee at City Hall, opining that a more economic <br />solution may be more information on the City's website for citizens to access. <br />Councilmember Roe spoke in support of Item 1.A.6 (page 3) on fostering youth <br />leadership; and Item 1B.3.b (page 5) to encourage more culture-based entertain- <br />ment and activities to create more cultural connections in the community. <br />Councilmember Ihlan identified, while not in her top five (5) priorities, Item <br />1.A.2.f (page 2) for more city-wide transportation systems that would also over- <br />lap youth initiatives identified in the document. <br />Councilmember Pust concurred with Councilmember Ihlan; noting that these <br />items had been identified throughout the document, and were both important top- <br />ics. <br />2) Roseville is a desirable place to live, work and play (pages 7 -13) <br />Councilmember Kough identified transportation for the elderly as a priority item, <br />noting the need for the City to partner with other agencies (i.e., Metropolitan <br />Council) to provide joint agreements to accommodate handicapped and elderly <br />citizens in the community. <br />Councilmember Roe concurred with Councilmember Kough's priority, and noted <br />that it was specifically identified under Item 11.B.5 (page 45) under expanding <br />options for transit-dependent people. <br />Mayor Klausing identified Item 2.B.4.d (page 11); and Item 2.A.10.a. (page 10) <br />related to code enforcement officers having political support; in addition to one of <br />his top priorities in keeping the city clean and attractive. Mayor Klausing further <br />supported initiating neighborhood surveys (page 10) and Item 2.B.4.f creating <br />crime impact teams. Mayor Klausing opined that each of these items would have <br />
