Regular City Council 1Vleeting <br />Monday, February 11, 2008 <br />Page 2 <br />Councilmember Roe announced that the Comprehensive Plan Update Steering Commit- <br />tee normally met on the second Thursday or each month; however, this week they had re- <br />scheduled the meeting to Wednesday, February 13~h at 6:00 p.m. Councilmember Roe <br />noted that the meetings are held in the Public Works Building Conference Room, and en- <br />couraged public attendance and comment, with Councilmembers Ihlan and Roe repre- <br />senting the City Council at the Committee meetings. <br />Councilmember Roe noted several comments on the Roseville Issues Forum last week re- <br />lated to Internet and phone service provided by Comcast and problems with those ser- <br />vices. Councilmember Roe noted that Roseville was part of the North Suburban Com- <br />munications Commission (NSCC) that regulated the cable franchise, and monitored com- <br />plaints of the franchises, and encouraged citizens to contact NSCC with their concerns at <br />792-7500. <br />5. Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br />a. Accept Golden K Kiwanis Donation <br />Mr. Denny Harris, a Roseville resident and member of the North Suburban <br />Golden K Kiwanis; Golden K Kiwanis President Fred Bergerud, and Vice Presi- <br />dent Robert Allen were present as representatives of Golden K Kiwanis. <br />Police Chief Carol Sletner introduced Mr. Harris. <br />Mr. Harris advised that he was actively advocating placing automatic external de- <br />fibrillators (AED's) in public and private places, and had personally experienced <br />their life-saving capabilities. Mr. Harris advised that he had approached the Ki- <br />wanis Board regarding supplying one to the Roseville Police Department, follow- <br />ing his discussions with Chief Sletner, and advised that the Board had voted to <br />donate a unit to the Department Mr. Harris introduced President Bergerud and <br />Vice President Allen. <br />Golden K Kiwanis President Bergerud presented a check in the amount of $1,500 <br />to the Roseville Police Department to be used for a mobile unit for use in one of <br />the department's marked squad cars. <br />Golden K Kiwanis Vice President Allen, chair of the Community Services Com- <br />mittee, thanked the City Council for the opportunity to serve the community in <br />this way. <br />Mayor Klausing, on behalf of the citizens of Roseville, staff and City Council, <br />expressed sincere appreciation to the North Suburban Golden K Kiwanis for their <br />donation; recognizing Mr. Harris' compelling personal story as a result of having <br />an AED unit in a public place. <br />Mr. Harris personally thanked Councilmember Kough for his friendship; and <br />noted that during his recovery, Councilmember Kough was his first visitor. <br />
