Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, May 12, 2008
Page 7
Councilmember Roe noted, on page 6 of 20 of the fee schedule, the changes in
dog and cat fees had not been included.
Councilmember Pust concurred, noting the need to include lifetime pet license
fees.
At the Council's consensus, the schedule was approved, as presented, with minor
correction to the column headings as noted.
Klausing moved, Ihlan seconded, adoption of Resolution No. 10624 entitled,
"Resolution Establishing the Revised 2008 Fee Schedule;" recognizing the recent
City Council approval of administrative tickets in various categories, as detailed
in the Fee Schedule Attachment A of the Resolution.
Roll Call
Ayes: Pust; Roe; Ihlan and Klausing.
Nays: None.
Staff was requested to return at a future meeting for approval of the revised
document, to include lifetime animal ordinance fees.
b. Approve Fire Department Administrative Assistant Job Description (Former
Consent Agenda Item 7.g)
At the request of Mayor Klausing, City Manager Bill Malinen briefly reviewed
the request for a change in the Fire Department Administrative Assistant Job De-
scription, as detailed in the staff report. Mr. Malinen noted the proposed combi-
nation of two job descriptions, that of Department Assistant and that of Fire-
fighter, with transition from part-time to full-time as authorized in the 2008 Fire
Department Budget. Mr. Malinen further noted that there would be no financial
impact as the pay grade was the same for both positions.
Councilmember Pust noted that when the proposal was first presented by the De-
partment from part to full-time, her impression was that the request was due to the
administrative needs of the department; and questioned that apparent change in
the primary position function to that of firefighter.
City Manager Malinen clarified that the Administrative Assistant function re-
mained primary, but that by adding skills for Firefighter/Emergency Medical
Technician (EMT), it would complement staff's need to provide an additional
trained responder as needed during weekday hours when the department's service
calls were highest.
Councilmember Pust noted inconsistencies in the Position Description duties in
the proposed document, with original discussions.
