Carol Kough, widow of former Councilmember Tom Kough
Ms. Kough followed up on her private conversations to individual Councilmem-
bers regarding their appointment of an interim successor to complete Council-
member Kough's term; and asked that the City Council consider his perspectives
on various issues as they contemplated the appointment. Ms. Kough reiterated
her previous comments to consider appointment of someone with wide public
support whose intent was to be fair to citizens. Council Communications, Reports & Announcements & HRA Report
Mayor Klausing announced the availability of applications for Green Community
Awards, showcasing the best of Roseville and Shoreview properties using green initia-
tives; noting that additional information and applications were available from Communi-
cations Specialist Tim Pratt at the Roseville City Hall (651) 792-7027 or on the City's
website.
Councilmember Roe reminded citizens of the City's Comprehensive Plan Update, cur-
rently in progress; the purpose of the document as a guiding document for many land use
decisions coming in the next 20-30 years; and the ongoing work of the Steering Commit-
tee. Councilmember Roe invited the public to attend any of those meetings, with public
comment received at the start of each meeting, and the next meetings scheduled at 6:00
p.m. on June 12 and June 26, 2008 in the Paper Birch Room of the Public Works Mainte-
nance Building; and encouraged citizens to remain to observe discussions at those meet-
ings; or to contact staff, Councilmembers, or Steering Committee members with their
comments; with additional information also available on the City's website.
5. Recognitions, Donations, Communications
a. Recognition of Jay Tschida
Mayor Klausing recognized Public Works employee, Jay Tschida, a member of
the National Guard, scheduled to leave for a tour of active duty in Iraq. On behalf
of the community, staff, and the City Council, Mayor Klausing wished Jay well,
and safe return.
Public Works Director Duane Schwartz echoed Mayor Klausing's wishes; and
briefly reviewed Jay's service to the City, his level of confidence, leadership
