Regular City Council Meeting <br />Monday, October 13, 2008 <br />Page 21 <br />Mayor Klausing spoke in support of the motion, opining that neighborhoods <br />should come first. <br />Councilmember Roe noted that, while there were these few contentious issues in <br />the Comprehensive Plan, the public needed to be proud of the process and the end <br />product, opining that it reflected the views of the community, and provided envi- <br />ronmental, utility, transportation, and transit issues not previously found and that <br />would take the community into the future. Councilmember Roe publicly opined <br />that the proposed plan be distributed for comment from adjacent jurisdictions; and <br />that the community should be proud of it; and that even with minor disagreements <br />remaining, it would serve the community well. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Willmus; Roe; Pust; and Klausing. <br />Nays: Ihlan. <br />Motion carried. <br />Mayor Klausing thanked individual members of the Steering Committee, in addi- <br />tion to staff, for the tremendous amount of work and major consensus on the ma- <br />jority ofthe document. <br />Councilmember Pust also thanked citizen members of the committee for the <br />amount of time they'd expended in serving the community throughout the proc- <br />ess. <br />11. Request by United Properties for a REZONING and GENERAL CONCEPT <br />PLANNED UNIT DEVELOMENT (PUD) to redevelop the property at 2990 <br />and 2996 Cleveland Avenue N into an assisted-living facility (PF08-020) <br />City Planner Thomas Paschke summarized the staff report dated October 13, 2008 <br />detailing the request of Untied Properties for approval of a REZONING and <br />GENERL CONCEPT PLANNED UNIT DEVELOPMENT (PUD) to redevelop <br />the property at 2990 and 2996 Cleveland Avenue N and a portion of the coopera- <br />tive development at 3008 Cleveland Avenue N into a 930 unit assisted living fa- <br />cility. Mr. Paschke advised that the City Council, at their August 15, 2008 meet- <br />ing, had given final plat approval for this area. <br />Discussion among Councilmembers and staff included setback requirements and <br />recommendations of staff; parking recommendations; overall proposed height of <br />
