Regular City Council Meeting
Monday, October 13, 2008
Page 5
Mr. O'Neill confirmed that the proposed system would provide a much more re-
fined level of reporting capabilities; and would be advantageous since it was
compatible with the Allina software system as well.
Councilmember Ihlan sought clarification as to whether this purchase had been
planned for some time; and if different alternatives had been researched.
Mr. O'Neill advised that the department had begun researching applicable soft-
ware systems three years ago, both for Fire and EMS reporting capabilities; and
opined that this was the best product to meet those needs.
Councilmember Pust sought clarification as to whether there would be ongoing
maintenance for this software; and whether this was a budgeted item.
Mr. O'Neill advised that there would be an annual maintenance fee of $3,400 -
$4,400; and that the annual license fee would be an ongoing budget expense under
the Department's Contract Services Budget, similar to the current software at
$1,800 per year.
City Manager Malinen advised that this purchase expense was taken from Asset
Replacement Funds, and that the Council would not see a reduction in the De-
partment's Operating Fund.
Roe moved, Pust seconded, approval of general purchases and/or contracts as fol-
lows:
Department Vendor Item/Description Amount
Fire Ima a Trend Records Mana ement Software $48,400.00
Streets Freelance Profes- Seasonal labor for Annual 25,000.00
sionals Leaf Pickup Pro ram
Streets Car ill Inc.
