WSB and Associates, Inc.
Proposal BL-08-02387D
Apri1 Z1, 209
Page 2
Scope of Services
We will proide tethnirians or engineer5 — working under the direttion of a Professional ngineer — to
perfarm our observation and testing services. Observation and testing serices wil! be perfarmed on
an on-call, as-needed basis as requested and scheduled by you or the projet contractars. We have
reiewed the available project information and propose to:
° Observe and ealuate the suitaility of geologic materials exposed in the botto'+s of road and
utility excavations or surfaces for fifl and/or structure/road support.
a Observe and evaltate tie suitability of prospective fill materials.
• Measure the in-piace dry density, moisture content and relative compaction of fiil placed
for paement and/or utility support, and of utility back.fill for compliance with the project
documents — this task includes erforming aboratory Proctor tests to provide maximum dry
densities frarr which the relative eompaction of fill can be determined, as welE as the use of
a nuclear density gauge ta measure in-place dry densities and moisture contents.
= Observe proaf-rolls of paveinent subgrades to ealuate subgrade strength and the ability of
the subgrades to support pavement materials.
■ 5ampl.e and test aggregate base and ituminous ament materials for tompEiance with the
project documents --this task intludes laboratory gradatian and Proctor testing of aggregate
base materia! and Rice specific gravity, Marshal4 density, asphalt content and extractec4
aggregate gradation tests of the bituminous.
■ MeasUre the temperature of the bituminous pavement at initial laydown and durirtg rofing for
compliance with the project documents, and to help the contractor deelop a roll pattern for
effective compaciion.
■ Measure the in-place density of the fresh bituminous with a nuciear density gauge to help the
contractor deeiop a rall patter for effective compatinn.
■ Measure the thickness and density a# the compacted bituminous pavement by the core method
for complianc with tfe project documents — this tak incudes coring equipment rentai.
■ Sample and test fresh contrete a5sociated with curb-anci-gutter and sidewalks €or conpliance
with the project docu.ments, and cast test eylinders for laboraiory campressive strength testing,
We assume that we will be able to appropriately dispo5e of excess concrete (and associated
wash water) on site at no additional east to us,
Measure and report the compressive strength of the cocrete test tylinders fo compliance with
the project documents.

IIT E
