Roseville Human Rights Commission <br />Meeting Minutes -June 9, 2009 <br />Page 5 of 6 <br />• 1 City Manager Malinen noted that the joint meeting had been slated for July 20; however, noted <br />2 that the HRC had asked the meeting be deferred, and sought further direction. <br />4 Chair Singleton suggested more time was needed and discussion continue at the next meeting. <br />5 <br />6 New Commissioner Orientation; Commission Start Time; Receiving Minutes; <br />7 Administrative Details <br />8 Ms. Curti reported that they were waiting word from the Bremer Foundation as to grant monies, <br />9 expressing optimism that additional information would be available in July. <br />10 <br />11 Chair Singleton advised that he was developing a proposal for presentation to the HRC, <br />12 following a meeting between him and City Manager Malinen, to establish by-laws, meeting <br />13 decorum and procedures. <br />14 <br />15 Chair Singleton sought input from Members related to meeting start time, with consensus of the <br />16 members to start meetings at 6:30 p.m. <br />17 <br />18 Member Grefenberg moved, seconded by Member Jaeger, to move the start time of the HRC to <br />19 6:30 p.m., effective with the next meeting. All Aye - 6/0/0. <br />20 <br />21 Discussion ensued related to the current and proposed procedure for receiving meeting minutes <br />• 22 and for adding items to the meeting agenda. <br />23 <br />24 Chair Singleton advised that he was working on a new agenda format that would include <br />25 proposed future agenda items; and in the meantime suggested that individual Members wishing <br />26 to add items to an agenda, provide those requests to Ms. Curti as she and Chair Singleton drafted <br />27 meeting agendas. <br />28 <br />29 Member Grefenberg suggested the addition of a public comment portion on each meeting to <br />30 show an openness of the HRC. <br />31 <br />32 Rose Parade Participation <br />33 Ms. Curti distributed a parade route to Members and said a vehicle would be provided; and <br />34 sought clarification of the number planning to attend and requested they arrive at the designated <br />35 point by 6:00 p.m. <br />36 <br />37 Other <br />38 Members discussed the need to meet in July, given the planning for a fall forum and other <br />39 activities; members noted conflicts and unavailability in July; and the Exploratory Committee <br />40 was encouraged and received empowerment by Member consensus to address logistics of a fall <br />41 forum; whether a November, rather than October, date for the dialogue would be prudent; and <br />42 option for calling a special meeting if the Subcommittee felt it was needed. <br />43 <br />• 44 Announcements <br />
