The City avoids certain
liabilities utilizing contract staff and can request new personnel if satisfactory performance is not
achieved. Staff feels these services, which are currently at bare necessity level, are provided
most consistentlyutilizing a contract service. Staff recommends continuing the existing
contractual relationship with Marsden at this time.
Financial Implications: The extension of the service contract falls within the proposed 2007
budgeted amount. Staff checked with other providers as to their service rates and found
Marsden's rates competitive. We found no evidence to indicate a benefit to going to bid at this
time.
Staff Recommendation: Staff recommends a two year extension of the existing janitorial
service contract with a'sde Janitorial Services at a monthly cost of $8,594.57.
RECOMINDED COUNCIL ACTION:
Motion extending the current contract for janitorial services for City facilities with a'sde
Janitorial Service through February 9,2009, at a not-to-exceed increase of 4 percent per year.
Prepared by: Patrick Dolan and Duane Schwartz
