Consider Commission Appointment Process <br />1� City Manager �alinen provided a copy of the current City Resolution No. <br />��� 10266 related to the Commission appointment process. Mr. �a�ine�. <br />�� referenced the staff report dated January 22,2007, detailing the City's <br />��� standing commissions; terms expiring on March 31, 2007; and those <br />�;� incumbents seeking and/oz eligible for reappointment specific to each <br />�� commission. Mr. Maline�. noted that Planning Commission interviews had <br />��� been held earlier this evening. <br />�� <br />�} Mr. ��.1i�e�. sought Council direction as to their preferred process, based on <br />�� the above-referencedpolicy. <br />2� <br />�� Mayor Klausing opined his support for reappointment of those interested <br />� � and eligible incumbents, pending any interviews requested by two <br />�� Councilmembers as outlined in the resolution. <br />�� <br />�� Councilmember Ihlan stated her position that reappointment shouldn't be <br />�� automatic; but should follow interviews, those eligible incumbents if two <br />�� Councilmembers so requested; that one process be followed with all <br />�� positions advertised and reappointments or appointments done only after <br />�� advertising vacancies, receiving applications of new candidates and <br />�� incumbents, and interviews had been completed. <br />4� <br />
