LEISURE VISION Roseville shall be a community with leisure activities demonstrating a uniqueness that reflects its diversity, creativity, talent, professionalism and especially the values of a proud community. We believe that the development of activities and programs must accommodate a variety of interests, stimulate creativity and learning, allow for nature appreciation and meet aesthetic, cultural, social, and athletic needs of all in the community. All leisure activities and facilities will be accessible for all persons, and will provide opportunities for participation by all age groups from early childhood to senior adults, and for families as well as for individuals. All leisure activities and facilities will be affordable, and no resident will be precluded from participation because of financial constraints. Aesthetics and beauty are essential requirements and will be a common quality throughout all facilities and leisure areas. This will be especially important for a city that has a high level of commercial development and is crisscrossed by arterial highways. Formalized interagency cooperation between all levels of volunteer agencies, County, State, School Districts and City government will be essential to maximize the mutual benefits to the community and the agencies. This vision can become a reality by developing a comprehensive master plan for financing and implementing the maintenance of existing facilities, acquiring property, developing new parks and trails/pathways, constructing new facilities, and creating new programs based on priorities established by representative commissions. GOALS Parks - To maintain and expand the public spaces that offer leisure facilities and activities. o Upgrade existing athletic fields through such techniques as irrigation, lighting for select fields (softball, football, and soccer) and the lengthening of ball field fences to regulation size. Well underway, ■ Irrigated 16 various field types • Lit three softball, one soccer/football • Reconstructed/reconfigured 18 various type fields to better meet the needs. • Reconstructed/reconfigured 2 softball fields into two lit multi purpose soccer, football lacrosse fields • Reconstruct three fields at the Victoria softball complex Build new athletic fields, thus allowing existing fields to be set aside for renovation and rest. Limited open space in Roseville. Have reconstructed/reconfigured several park areas to allow better use of space and additional multi use playing areas. ■ Adopted master plan for C.P.
