Reduce the probability that a traffic accident will occur in Roseville.
o Ensure smooth traffic flow throughout Roseville, particularly at intersections, through use
of state of the art technologies and practices.(City and State farm Studies, 1998)
o Expand the scope, role, and size of Roseville's Traffic Safety Committee:
1. To be active in initiating accident investigation and traffic flows.
2. To review development site plans for traffic safety.
o Change the criteria for accident investigation (currently the threshold for investigating the
cause of accidents is five similar accidents at the same location) to lower and more discreet
levels of intervention based on the type of road and adjacent property uses.
o Increase public education in existing traffic laws, defensive driving, and how traffic control
devices work.
o Require periodic training or re-testing for driver license renewals. (This would have to
involve state mandate).
o Install highly reflective stop signs throughout Roseville.
o Aggressively enforce traffic violations, use speed trailer.
General
Increase public awareness of public safety issues and remedies.
o Institute a column on public safety in a Roseville newspaper or Newsletter.
o Enforce existing ordinances regarding the display of house numbers, and improve
informational signing (speed limits, posted Snowbird Ordinance, etc.) on streets and
thoroughfares.
Investigate the development of centralized technology connected to alarms in all citizens'
homes. (this has been explored through wireless technology)
Vista 2000 Report Page 17 of 24
