Discuss Comprehensive Plan Process {PF 3692} <br />Communi�y Developmen� Director D�nnis Welsch <br />Community Development Director We�sch introduced Planning <br />Comrnzsszon Vice Chair Mary Bakeman, and boih provided <br />background on the proposed upcoming Comprehensive P�an <br />revisions. Mr. Welsch noted that goa� setting and p�anning wexe <br />an integra� part of each ci�y's responsibility; and that by 2008, all <br />communities zn the metz�opo��ian areas were to submit an up-to- <br />date Comprehensive Plan to the Metropolitan Council for review <br />and approva�. Mr. Welsch and Ms. Sakeman sought City Counci� <br />dzarection on how �o prepare a participation plan and who to <br />invo�ve in the prneess. <br />Planning Commiss�on Vice Chair Mary S�keman <br />Ms. Bakeman noted that she was a s�rong p�aponent of public <br />participation; and reeognized the inter�st o� citiz�ns in the <br />previous process, Vista 2000, its promotion and resulis. Ms. <br />Bakeman further noted, however, the �ime �equired for an <br />intensive pub�ic pxocess, and the n�ed for immedia�e ac�ion to <br />initia�e �hat process.
