From what I have seen concerning Apartment and
House Rental it is definately a very good idea to license anyone who have places for rent. The reason for this is
many of these people or management companies do all they can to avoid repairs and up keep of the property.
Example: My Daughter rented a 2BdRM in Coon Rapids, Just off of the kitchen wall between the Dining area
and Livingroomthere was a 6 inch by 16 inch hole in the floor with nearly new carpeting over the
Dining/Livingroom area. The Owners said that when they replaced the carpet the next time they would fix the
hole. We questioned the neighbors and found the previous renters of that apartmentand found that one day
while they were at work that the owners came in on a unschedualed day and replaced the carpet the last time.
We also found that they had complained aboutthe hole several times before the carpet was replaced.
Obviously they don't want the expense of fixing the hole! WHY? A Fridley Apartment had a leaky bathroom
ceiling complaints were made and the owners said that it was fixed but water still dripped from the ceiling.
Again it was fixed, but it still leaked! After 6 months the daughter moved out and lost her deposit because of
damage to the bathroom walls that they said was her fault. There are any number of places that duck repairs
and get away with it. Licensing these people with the stipulation that repeated complaints from any
irrlc unit r building ! 18 CIJ11d3 IMetgeUan fr4 th a t t 4f SLI#'f li'il h► #+
I#4fi #11 of said iit +r trifc! This is
the only way to control, maintain, and improve Rental conditions in any community.
Thank You for you time.
