City Council Regular Meeting —12/04/06
DRAFT Minutes - Page 12
day service, as well as no City liability for Workers
Compensation and other employee benefits. Mr. Schwartz
further advised that when services were bid several years
ago, it had been a very detailed bid, and that periodic
cleaning of windows (inside and outside) and extensive
carpet cleaning were excluded and were bid out separately
when needed, with Marsden providing day-to-day services.
Discussion services provided; extra services above the
contract and billed separately (substantial carpet cleaning;
mopping); and facilities included in the contract, including
the Harriet Alexander Nature Center (HANC); Skating
Center and City Hall.
Councilmember Kough opined that he would like to see the
contract rebid at this time.
Mayor Klausing questioned, and staff confirmed, that
delaying action for several weeks on extending the contract
would not be problematic.
Mayor Klausing directed staff to provide the additional cost
benefit analysis information requested by Councilrnember
Ihlan; and to put the item back on the Consent Agenda for
December 18, 2006, following staff submission of the
requested materials.
Councilrnember Ihlan clarified that she wanted cost benefit
analysis documentation, as well as evidence for finding no
evidence to go to bid, as her information request.
Klausing moved, Ihlan seconded, tabling action on
considering extension of the current contract for janitorial
services for City facilities with Marsden Janitorial Service
until the December 18,2006 meeting.
Roll C all
Ayes: Ihlan; Kough; Pust; Maschka and Klausing.
Nays: None.
4.
