City Council Regular Meeting — O1/31/05 DRAFT Minutes - Page 15 LoBaido. RVA Executive Director Dino LoBaido Mr. LoBaido expressed appreciation to the City Council and Mayor Klausing for the opportunity to demonstrate the successes of 2004 in the community, region and state. Mr. LoBaido briefly provided an update on current staff and Board of Directors; addition of a new Sales Manager as requested by the Hotel group to more aggressively pursue business. Mr. LoBaido reviewed the purpose of the RVA; winners in those efforts (i.e., area businesses, Roseville residents and businesses, visitors, and the City of Roseville); use of the three-percent (3%) lodging tax to support the RVA; marketing efforts; advertising and active selling efforts, including the new Website and video (with a portion of the video presented); uses of other and various media sources; active selling effort opportunities; and tracking of successes, sales and revenues, including comparisons from 2003 — 2004 with an economic impact of business done in Roseville at $2,448,535. Mr. LoBaido highlighted notable successes in 2004 including, "Roseville Glows! "; Economic Development; participation in the annual RoseFest celebration; and community information source from their HarMar location. Mr. LoBaido noted the anticipated and specific plans for 2005 included the new visitors guide; a holiday get-away program; continuation of the RVA Hospitality Awards ceremony; a new RVA newsletter; and support of the Sister City Program; as well as continuing to solicit memberships to further enhance networking opportunities. Councilmember Kough thanked the RVA for taking on the Sister City Program; and offered suggestions for tree lighting options. 14.
