REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION <br />DATE: 2114105 <br />ITEM NO: 3.e <br />Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: <br />^ CONSENT <br />, � � r- . ` � <br />� .t. d'. � k�:..� �.�`.�� <br />I�em Description: Authorization for 2005 Rose Parade <br />BACKGROUND <br />During the past 15 years, the Rose Parade has been an important part of the annual <br />Rosefest celebration sponsored by the City of Roseville Parks and Recreation <br />Department. The Rose Parade is organized by the Parade Committee under the <br />supervision of the Parks and Recreation Department. The Chair of the 2005 Rose <br />Parade Committee is Leslie Berry. <br />The parade is scheduled for Monday, June 27, 2005 beginning at 6:30 p.m. The parade <br />route will begin at the Roseville Area High School and proceed east on Cty. Rd B-2, <br />then north on Lexington and then west on Cty. Rd. C to the John Rose Minnesota <br />OVAL. The pre-staging area is in the high school complex area. The neighborhoods <br />along the route will be posted ahead of time indicating the traffic delays. Letters will <br />also be sent making residents aware of the upcoming event. The Roseville Police will <br />again insure assistance if residents need to exit or gain access to their residence during <br />the parade. <br />POLICY OBJECTIVE <br />The City Council has annually approved the staging of the Rose Parade. <br />FINANCIAL IMPLICATION <br />The Rose Parade is paid for from fees, sponsorships and donations. Staff time is used <br />to coordinate the �lannin� and for setup and �I�anu,� of the parade route. <br />STAFF RECOMMENDATION <br />Staff recommends approval of the 2005 Rose Parade scheduled for Monday June 27, <br />2005. <br />COUNCIL ACTION REQUESTED <br />Motion authorizing the 2005 Rose Parade, <br />
