Where it is found that the <br />electricalsystem in a structure constitutesa hazard to the occu- <br />pants or the structure by reason of inadequate service, improper <br />fusing, insufficientreceptacle and lighting outlets, improper <br />wiring or installation, deterioration or damag�, or for similar <br />reasons, the code official shall require the defects to he cor- <br />rected to eliminate the hazard, <br />SECTION 605 <br />ELECTRICAL EQUIPMENT <br />605.1 Installation. All electrical equipmcnt, wiring and appli- <br />ances shall be properly installed and maintained in a safe and <br />approved manner. <br />605.2 Receptacles. Every habitable space in a dwelling shall <br />contain at least two separate and remote receptacle outlets. Ev- <br />ery laundry area shali contain at least ane grounded-type recep- <br />tacle or a receptacle with a ground fault circuit inte�'t'ttpter. <br />Every batl�room shall Cnntain at least one receptacle.+kiaMhew <br />bathroom receptacle o�tle[ shall have eroundfault circuitinter- <br />ru�ter protection. <br />605.3 Lighting fixtures, Every public hall, interior stairway, <br />toilet roa�n, lcitchen, bathroom. laundry room, boiler raazn and <br />furnaceroom shallcontain at least one electric lightingfixture. <br />SECTION 606 <br />ELEVATORS, ESCALATORSAND DUMBWAITERS <br />606.1 General. Elevators,dumbwaitersandescalatorsshallbe <br />maintainedto sustain safely all imposed loads, to operate prop- <br />erly, and to be free from physical and fire hazards. The most <br />eurrent certificate of inspection shall be on display at all times <br />within the elevator or attached to the escalator or dumbwaiter; <br />or the certificate shall be available for public inspection in the <br />office of the building operator. <br />606.2 Elevators. In buildings equipped with passenger eleva- <br />tors, at least one elevator shall be maintained 'm operation at all <br />times when the building is occupied <br />Exception: Buildings equipped with only one elevator shall <br />be permitted to have the elevator temporarilyout of service <br />for testing or servicing. <br />SECTION 607 <br />DUCT SYSTEMS <br />607.1 General.
