City Council Regular Meeting— �.U124105 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 29 <br />Maschka moved, Schroeder seconded, authorizing staff to <br />attempt to negotiate an acceptable contract for City Attorney <br />services with the law firm of Ratwik, Roszak, and Maloney. <br />Councilmember Maschka spoke in support of the motion; <br />opining that the legal counsel provided by the firm of Ratwik, <br />Roszak and Maloney had proven the most beneficial to the City <br />in his thirteen years on the City Council. <br />Discussion included staff analysis, assumptions and rationale for <br />selection of incumbent firms; and retainer provisions. <br />Roll Call <br />Ayes: Maschka; Kough; Schroeder and Klausing. <br />Nays: Ihlan. <br />Maschka moved, Kough seconded, authorizing staff to attempt to <br />negotiate an acceptable contract for City Prosecutor services with <br />the law �� of Jensen, Bell and Converse. <br />Councilmember Ihlan reiterated her concerns in considering the <br />highest bidder; and language from the City's Professional <br />Services Policy. <br />Councilmember Schroeder concurred with Councilmember <br />Ihlan's comments regarding the firm of Jensen, Bell and <br />Converse having already served their second, three-year term; <br />and the need to be fair to other applicants and for the City <br />Council to provide opportunities to increase the pool of resources <br />and follow written policy. <br />Councilmember Kough spoke in support of the motion, given the <br />firms' experience and history with the City. <br />John Kysylyczyn, 3083 N Victoria Street <br />Mr. Kysylyczyn provided a bench handout and expressed his <br />disappointment in the Council not adhering to a 15-year old <br />policy and following a process for selecting professional service <br />providers through interviews of an independent selection panel. <br />Roll C all <br />
