There hag becn soine public discussion aboutthe positivc �r�d ue�Ative ramifications ot' �t� appointment process. Proponents o f tlie appointment process correctly identify the 1 e�at requircments to promptly fill Council vacancies, and point to historical situati�t�s whcreir� NuAlified inclividu�ls have been appointed, seivcd �c�mirably and gone on to he elected by tih� population. Opponents of the appoinlment process have notcd that the process ct�n create an unfair adv�.ata�c iur ilie appointec, whn tllen i1u1s in an elcetion fix�m � position of incumbency. If the public discussions continue and the citizens of Rosevillc express the slr��ng ar�d ht��r�dly-held view that this Council appointee should serve � 3 caretaker only and pledge not to T�ui in tlic upcoming spccial election, I would �.grcc la E�.,llow the cc�mmunity's wishes.
