Mr. Mulder also concurred, noting that when the Planning Commission heard a housing project, it affected the HRA, and dialogue needed to ensue regarding how the two commissions could inter-relate and receive addirional education from each other. Thelma McKenzie, Chair of the Human Rights Commission Ms. McKenzie enthusiastically supported today's format and the opportunity to share ideas. Ms. McKenzie south clarification from Mr. Welsch on his list of weaknesses or threats regarding potential failure of the Applewood Pointe proj ect. Mr. Welsch clarified the notation, in consideration of potential market failures, or if they were marketed to the wrong people, a possible traumatic national event, and other possibilities; and potential ramifications to the HRA and the City. Ms. McKenzie addressed several housing issues from the Human Rights perspective. Ms. McKenzie discussed housing issues related to School District employees, and why teachers of color didn't have longevity in the District. Mr. Maj erus concurred with Ms. McKenzie's concerns, questioning what the community provided people of color {i.e., housing, jobs, ethnicity issues). Ms. McKenzie reviewed the Human Rights Commissions' attempts to personalize communication and market/support people of color (i.e., housing, shopping, map of the City; welcome to the community; highlighting areas of interest in the community) that are provided to new teachers.
