Recognitions, Donations, Communications <br />4.a. Motion Accepting Donation of Canine Vests from the <br />"Pennies to Protect Police Dogs, Inc. Foundation <br />(Demonstration by one of our K 9's) <br />Kough moved, Schroeder seconded, acceptance of three <br />(3) K-9 bulletproof vests. <br />Police Chief Carol Sletner presented background <br />information on the United States Police Canine <br />Association �CJSPCA) and the Pennies to Protect Police <br />Dogs, Inc. program to provide bulletproof vests for police <br />canines. <br />A bulletproof vest was modeled by Police Dog Cooper, <br />with Police Chief Sletner and Sgt. Eric Christensen noting <br />that the vest would be used only in certain high risk <br />situations. <br />Councilmember Schroeder requested further information <br />on the program; with Chief Sletner responding that he <br />program was based in Florida, and sought no endorsement <br />from the City for acceptance of the vests. <br />Councilmember Kough noted the investment in the Canine <br />Patrol and their training; and spoke in support of the <br />equipment. <br />Recognitions, <br />Donations, <br />Communications <br />Motion Accepting <br />Donation of Canine <br />Vests from the <br />"Pennies to Protect <br />Police Dogs, Inc. <br />Foundation <br />
