REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 03/15/04 1TF1�: ]y. a�p�rt�� 1�pru��l: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: � � Item Description: Purchase of Refurbished Workstations for New Police Department Background: Li the development of the overall project budget for the addition to city hall and the remodel of existing spaces, money was set aside to purchase additional workstations, seating, tables, and miscellaneous furniture. This project is nearly doubling the pre-existing office and public spaces. We have explored available sources for filling these needs and to best accomplish the integration of e�sting workstations and seating into the overall proj ect. We feel this is best accomplished utilizing existing state contracts that provide the opportunity to purchase refurbished workstations that will match the existing inventory of furniture. As spaces are reconfigured in the remodel, we estimate that 90%-95% of existing furniture will be reused. Some panels may need to be refurbished with new fabric and some old non-matching seating and tables will be available for sale or auction. We will be making every effort to utilize as much of the existing as practicable. Financial Implication: We have reserved approximately $300,000 in the overall project budget for furniture and fi�ures. This is a relatively low number for a project of this magnitude. Our ability to integrate existing furniture and fi�ures with the new is imperative to accomplishing this portion of the proj ect within budget. Recommendation: We recommend the purchase of refurbished Hermann Miller brand workstations and related filing storage from Alternative Business Systems under existing cooperative state contract. The estimated cost for the workstations, filing, and installation is $99,533.
