Community Town Hall Meeting — 04/26/04 DRAFT Minutes - Page 18 Public Works Director Schwartz, at the request of Mayor Klausing, responded that an alternate route for the sidewalk, as part of the Reservoir Wood Pathway project, had been found due to location of the cemetery, right-of- way issues, drainage and access; and grading issues. L John Goedeke, 2674 Virginia Avenue Mr. Goedeke noted comments of a former Roseville Mayor regarding the City of Roseville's historical neglect of code enforcement compliance issues; noting the positive program recently initiated by the City of Shoreview, recommending that Roseville investigate a similar program. The audience responded with applause. Mayor Klausing concurred with Mr. Goedeke's comments; noting that the City of Shoreview's program focused on specific neighborhoods, with letters to residents using positive reinforcement to explain code enforcement requirements for citizen awareness and encouraging citizens and neighborhoods to address code enforcement issues in the best interest of them personally and the overall community and property values. On an unrelated note, Mr. Goedeke, expressed his pride in Mayor Klausing's representation of the City of Roseville at a recent meeting of the North Suburban Golden Kiwanis Club. Councilmember Kough concurred with Mr. Goedeke's code enforcement comments, encouraging business owners to keep their exterior properties aesthetically inviting; noting his conversations with Mayor Klausing and City Manager Beets regarding the possibility of including a letter of encouragement for clean up, along with applications for issuance and/or renewal of business licenses.
