Community Town Hall Meeting — 04/26/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 18 <br />Public Works Director Schwartz, at the request of Mayor <br />Klausing, responded that an alternate route for the <br />sidewalk, as part of the Reservoir Wood Pathway project, <br />had been found due to location of the cemetery, right-of- <br />way issues, drainage and access; and grading issues. <br />L John Goedeke, 2674 Virginia Avenue <br />Mr. Goedeke noted comments of a former Roseville Mayor <br />regarding the City of Roseville's historical neglect of code <br />enforcement compliance issues; noting the positive <br />program recently initiated by the City of Shoreview, <br />recommending that Roseville investigate a similar program. <br />The audience responded with applause. <br />Mayor Klausing concurred with Mr. Goedeke's comments; <br />noting that the City of Shoreview's program focused on <br />specific neighborhoods, with letters to residents using <br />positive reinforcement to explain code enforcement <br />requirements for citizen awareness and encouraging <br />citizens and neighborhoods to address code enforcement <br />issues in the best interest of them personally and the overall <br />community and property values. <br />On an unrelated note, Mr. Goedeke, expressed his pride in <br />Mayor Klausing's representation of the City of Roseville at <br />a recent meeting of the North Suburban Golden Kiwanis <br />Club. <br />Councilmember Kough concurred with Mr. Goedeke's <br />code enforcement comments, encouraging business owners <br />to keep their exterior properties aesthetically inviting; <br />noting his conversations with Mayor Klausing and City <br />Manager Beets regarding the possibility of including a <br />letter of encouragement for clean up, along with <br />applications for issuance and/or renewal of business <br />licenses. <br />J.
