Staff wants to enhance the visual presentation system to meet current
and future needs.
Communications Specialist Tim Pratt met with Lieutenant Rick Mathwig from the Police
Department and Assistant Fire Chief Tim O'Neill to identify equipment needs for a Training
Room/EOC. The group also met with system designers from AVI Systems and Alpha Video
and CTV engineer Andre Barte. The needs identified are:
Ability to show video tapes and DVD's
Ability to show PowerPoint presentations from a presenter's laptop
Ability to record training exercises
Microphone and speakers so presenter can be heard in a crowded room
Televisions that could receive the presentation signal or television news reports
Pratt took the information from the meetings and developed an equipment design for the
Training Room/EOC in cooperation with Alpha Video. The system design is attached.
Pratt and Barte met separately with Public Works Director Duane Schwartz, architect Pan
Anderson from Ankeny Kell and electrical engineer Tom MacDonald from EEA. They
discussed the electrical design for the Training Room and the redesign of the Council
Chambers.
The Council previously approved a remodeling phase of the City Hall project that will include
building a new Council dais, addition of a presentation and wark station table and addition of
a drop down screen. Staff is proposing the addition of a multimediaprojector and a new
remote control system. The new dais will be built so the flat panel monitors will be fl
essd. The remainder of the current AV system will be retained, repositioned and rewired.
CTV has offered to have their engineer Andre Barte do the installation at no cost to the City.
