Snelling and Fairview.
o Estimated Pathway Construction Cost =$275,000
■ Between airview and Cleveland, construct an 8 foot wide bituminous (or concrete)
pathway on the south side of County Road B-2
o Replace existing street lights with pedestrian level ornamental lighting between
Fairview and Cleveland.
o Estimated Pathway Construction Cost =$80,000 ($180,000)
Plant street trees and introduce decorative elements into the crosswallcs and medians.
Segment 4— Terminal Road, Cleveland Avenue to Walnut Street (0. 75 miles)
County Road B-2 becomes Terminal Road at the bridge over 35W. The properties along
Terminal Road are mainly industrial & Business Parlc in nature. These include Praxair,
Primesource, India Handicrafts, Artistic Finishes, American Freightways, and Old Dutch.
The street is between 42 and 50 feet wide, two lanes in each direction, curb and gutter. There are
two 4 way stop controlled intersections at Long Lalce Road and at Walnut Street. There is a
Railroad crossing just west of St. Croix Street. The traffic counts for this segment are
considerably less at 7400 and 2200 ADT.
There is concrete sidewallc along the north side of the street that terminates just west of the Long
Lalce Road intersection. The existing sidewallc does not meet the width standards required for a
multi-use facility. The condition rating is 95 and is considered acceptable. The City owns 14
streetlights on this segment that have been in place for about 20 years and require some
maintenancelreplacement. There is no on street parlcing in this entire district.
The County is loolcing at reconstructing the St. Croix Street and Terminal Road between TH 280
and Fulham Street to provide a reliever route for Highway 36. Any Pathway design needs to
recognize the new street alignment.
Proposed Construction
Construct an 8 foot wide bituminous (or concrete) attached pathway on the north side of
Terminal Road (County Road B-2), between Cleveland and Walnut Street.
The proposed pathway will tie into the existing 6 foot wide bridge shoulder. Due to cost
and constraints this portion of the proj ect will require a variance, since the shoulder does
not meet Federal design guidelines.
Replace existing street lights with pedestrian level ornamental lighting between
Cleveland and Long Lalce Road.
■ Estimated Pathway Construction Cost = $120,000 ($225,000)
County Road B-2 Trail
FeasibilityReport
May 24,2004
