City Council Study Session — 06/21/04 <br />DRAFT Minutes - Page 30 <br />It was Council consensus to direct staff to include consideration <br />of this expenditure on the July 12, 2004 regular City Council <br />meeting agenda. <br />No formal action taken. <br />11. Informational Presentation about a Waste Management Pilot <br />Recycling Plan for Roseville <br />City Manager Beets provided an update on the current status of <br />the City's curbside recycling program; and ongoing evaluation of <br />the program and proposed enhancements. Mr. Beets noted that, <br />pursuant to a Council-approved contract, the City Council <br />directed staff and Waste Management, the City's contracted <br />recycling hauler, to conduct a recycling pilot program during the <br />current contract period of January 1, 2004 through December 31, <br />2005, to test various components identified by the Residential <br />Solid Waste and Recycling Citizens Advisory Committee <br />(RSWRCAC). <br />12. <br />Mr. Beets advised that the pilot program was now ready to be <br />implemented; and proceeded to review the five identified routes <br />and their specific and similar designs and demographic make up. <br />Mr. Beets noted that staff had been in the process of collecting <br />baseline data to-date; with the pilot program's duration <br />anticipated through this fa11; and the rest of the year spent <br />analyzing the data with Ramsey County and private consultants <br />for preparation of a report and test results anticipated early next <br />year for Council review. <br />Councilmember Schroeder cautioned that staff ensures that <br />rationale for selecting certain routes be identified to prevent <br />tainting of resulting data. <br />Informational <br />Presentation about <br />a Waste <br />Management Pilot <br />Recycling Plan for <br />Roseville <br />Mr. Beets assured Councilmembers that staff had been collecting <br />baseline data from within each of the routes; and that <br />demographics were researched to ensure that each route area was <br />as identical as possible. <br />Recognition — Finance Department Awarded the Recognition — <br />
