Mr. <br />Machyowsky expressed his dissent from those wishing to <br />put a Costco, or "big box" retailer at the entrance to the <br />City; opining that it didn't make sense to him as a citizen, <br />and encouraged the City Council to reconsider this <br />proposal, and encourage a multi-use development instead. <br />B. Representatives of the Roseville Neighbors for Responsible <br />Growth (RNRG): Tom Goodman, Chris Beardsley and Lisa <br />Scribner, had requested time for comment regarding the <br />Crematorium issue. <br />Mr. Chris Beardsley, President of Pres of RNRG <br />Mr. Beardsley advised Councilmembers that the RNRG <br />was a fully formed non-profit organization whose mission <br />was to improve the quality of neighborhoods and residents, <br />specifically the Crematorium issue at this time. <br />Mr. Beardsley reviewed the history of the crematory issue, <br />and noted that the RNRG's purpose in attending tonight's <br />meeting was to request that the City Council take another <br />step related to this proposal, to amend the City's zoning <br />ordinance to restrict crematories in residential areas. <br />Lisa Scribner, Secretary of RNRG, 1901 N. Victoria <br />Street <br />Ms. Scribner requested that the City put safety first by <br />providing precautionary principals relative to incineration <br />facilities in residential areas; opining that there was <br />insufficient data being generated at this time to adequately <br />define the environmental risks. Ms. Scribner supported the <br />request for the City to amend the zoning ordinance to <br />prevent crematoriums to be built in residential areas. <br />Tom Goodman, law firm representing the RNRG <br />Mr. Goodman noted that the RNRG was not against <br />cremation, but pointed out that crematoriums are <br />incinerators, and the City doesn't allow incinerators in any <br />
