C. Citv Manager Recommendation # 14: To Eliminate the Aggressive Skate Park at the OVAL
Impact Statements: The loss of the Aggressive Skate Park will affect the lifestyles of area youth.
+ The City would need to be prepared to address the issues that arise when youth use their skateboards,
inline skates and bikes on community public and private facilities (i.e. businesses, offices, trails,
sidewalks, curbing, walls and stairways, railings) — repair services will need to be planned for.
i The Skate Park serves a very unique group of individuals who often do not have a place to
playlrecreate. Message sent to this group on the importance of their activity.
■ Equipment will go unused andlor would be sold or stored at a cost.
 Potential lost revenue issues:
The elimination of the aggressive skate park may devalue the sponsorship contracts currently
providing the center with revenues — Coke, K2 and other potentials. Corporations may not
compensate at a rate similar to the past when we operate at a diminished capacity.
Lost vending revenues with the potential to impact the existing vending contract.
 Lost concessionrevenues for concessionaire
o Season elimination will affect the current concession contract by fewer opportunities to generate
revenues.
Reduced room rentals because there will be no skating to coincide with room usage.
o Reduced youth programming. Elimination of inline skating, BMX biking and skateboard classes
 ReducedPublic Skating
v Reduced School Group Rentals
o Reduced Birthday Party Rentals
