Are some of the general occupancy <br />multifamily complexes becoming predominatelyrented to or owned by seniors? Are <br />school enrollments rising or declining over time? Is there an adequate mix of affordable <br />housing a�ailable throughoutthe planning districts in the city? <br />Policymakers must consider multifamilyhousing in light of other forces at work in the <br />city, such as the employer population. There are many employers that provide living- <br />wage jobs in Roseville that seek employees with the right match of skills and experience. <br />Multifamilyresidentsplay an importantrole in definingthe local laborpool forretail and <br />commerciaUindustrial businesses. It is important that Roseville employers maintain <br />access to a qualified labor pool so they are not compelled to relocate to another city (and <br />take their taY base with them). A strong community provides a variety of housing that is <br />affordable to the people who work there. <br />A Snapshot of Roseville's Demographics: <br />More than one in four Roseville residents live in multifamily housing. Of all the city's <br />housing units (15,600 total), just over half are freestanding single-familyhomes. The rest <br />of the housing is multifamilyunits, single-family attached units, or mobile homes. Fewer <br />than 400 new rental properties ha�e been built in Roseville since 1990. The income threshold for homeownership in Roseville is roughly $50,000, below <br />which most residents are renters.
