3.0 Staff Recommendation <br />3.1 It is the staff's recommendation that the City Council authorize the Fire Marshal to issue <br />bum permits to Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department. The permit would be <br />for the period of March 28, 2000 through May 10, 2000. The purpose of the permit is to <br />improve the quality of prairie vegetation, stimulate prairie grasses and flowers and <br />eliminate non-prairie vegetation. The permits will be issued for bums at the natural area <br />around the ponds at Lake McCarrons County Park; at a site on the north side of County <br />Road G2, east of Lexington Avenue, in Lake Josephine County Park; and, at a sma113-acre <br />area within Roseville's Waterworks Park. <br />4.0 Suggested City Council Action <br />By motion, authorize the Fire Marshal to issue a burn permit to Ramsey County <br />Parks and Recreation Department for burns at the natural area around the ponds at <br />Lake McCarrons County Park; at a site on the north side of County Road G2, east of <br />Lexington Avenue, in Lake Josephine County Park; and, at a small 3-acre area <br />within Roseville's Waterworks Park, said permits to be issued conditioned upon <br />compliance with the following stipulatior.s: <br />a) The effective date of the permits shall be from March 28, 2000 through May <br />10, 2000; <br />b) The bum shall be conducted by acknowledged experts from the Ramsey <br />County Parks and Recreation Department; and, <br />c) Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department shall notify the Roseville <br />Fire Department at least two days in advance of the date and time of the <br />bum. <br />Attachments: Letter of request from Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Department; Area location map <br />Prepared by: John Loftus, Fire Marshal <br />Q:\General Correspondence\JohnL\RCA_Ramsey Co.Parks & Recreation Bum Permit(03.27.00).doc <br />RCA-Ramsey County Parks and Recreation Dept. 03.27.00 <br />
