�� <br />Request for Council Action <br />Date: May 22, 2000 <br />Item Number: C -5 <br />Department Approval Manager Approval Agenda Section <br />Item Description: <br />. <br />. � <br />Resolution Requesting the Dissolution of the <br />Minnesota Police Recruitment System (MPRS) <br />Consent <br />Back�round <br />Since 1980, the City has been a member of the Minnesota Police Recruitment System (formerly Suburban <br />Police Recruitment System), a joint powers organization formed to recruit candidates for entry-level police <br />positions in cooperating governmental units and to assist the cooperating governmental units in evaluating <br />candidates for these positions. On September 26, 1996, the MPRS Board of Directors voted to cease all <br />recruitment and testing activities. MPRS is now requesting member approval of the dissolution and payment of <br />$176.40, an assessment for operating expenses incurred since September 26, 1996. <br />Financial <br />The City of New Hope loaned MPRS funds for operating expenses incurred prior to the official dissolution of <br />the System. The City of Roseville's assessment is $170.40 (5.68% of the $3,000 total). <br />Staff Recommendation <br />Staff recommends adoption of a resolution for the dissolutioii of the Minnesota Police Recruitment System and <br />approval of the payment of the $170.40 assessment for operating expenses of the MPRS since September 26, <br />1996. <br />Council Action Requested <br />Motion adopting a resolution for the dissolution of the Minnesota Police Recruitment System and approval of <br />the payment of $170.40 assessment for operating expenses of the MPRS. <br />
