REQUEST FOR COUNCIL ACTION DATE: 7/ 10/00 ITEM NO.: F-4 Department Approval: Manager Reviewed: Agenda Section: �� , `'�� Reports Item Description: Approval of Agreement and Change Order for the Reconstruction of the Fairview Community Center Parking lot and Driveway. Background: On April 24, 2000, the City Council awarded the bid for 2000 Contract B. This project included reconstruction work in the Fair-view Community Center Parking lot. We have been working with Independent School District 623 on including improvements to their facilities in our reconstruction projects. Improvements are planned for the driveway as well as the easterly parking lot. Because Roseville is letting and administering this construction contract, an agreement is necessary with the School District to cover construction costs. The Fairview Community Center Agreement is attached for City Council review. The original contract included the reconstruction of the driveway, utility installation, sidewalk and curb replacement. Upon further consideration, the School District determined that the easterly parking lot also was in need of repair. The addition of the parking area is an 8% increase of the original contract amount. Current policy states that staff may approve Change Orders for up to 5% of the original contract amount. Since the total of this Change Order exceeds 5% of the original contract of $1,377,240.34, it requires City Council approval. Financial implications: The cost for this Change Order is $112,522.00, which is approximately 8% over the original contract amount. The cost will be paid for by the School District. RECOMMENDED COUNCIL ACTION: Approval of a Change Order for 2000 Contract B and Approval of an agreement between the Independent School District 623 and the City of Roseville for the reconstruction of the Fairview Community Center parking lot and driveway and authorizing the Mayor and Manager to sign on behalf of the City.
