The City's compensation policy objectives include: <br />Internal Equity — maintaining a compensation and benefit package that is as consistent as possible <br />between the City's three union and two non-union groups. <br />External Equity — maintaining a compensation and benefit package that is competitive with outside <br />organizations. <br />Focusing on these objectives reinforces the City's ability to pay a wage based upon the duties performed. The <br />objectives also support positive working relationships with employees and support employee morale. <br />Financial Implications: <br />The total wage and salary package for the non-exempt group will be an increase of $79,401 or 4.36% for 2001 <br />and the exempt group will have a total dollar increase of $107,748 or 4.53% for 2001. These settlements are <br />within the range of all groups. As with the union contracts, the increased amounts are within the 2001 Budget. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff is recommending the wage and salary schedules as attached, be approved. <br />Council Action Reauested: <br />Motion to approve the 2001 wage and salary increases for the City's exempt and non-exempt employee groups <br />as shown in the attached schedules. <br />Motion to approve the adjustment to the Department Head auto allowance to $275 per month. <br />
