"Foreclasures continue Co hit families and our state's economy hard. We are <br />hopeful that connecting more homeowners with counselors and providing a neuiral third-party in some cases will <br />F�elp keep more homeowners in their homes, withoUl negafively impacting the availabil€ty of credit in Minnesota." <br />Actians announced 6y Go�ernor Pawlenty taday include: <br />• Expanded Foreclosure Caunseling Worksi�ops to be held around the state <br />• Creation af the Minnesota Foreclosure Prevention Compact <br />• Mediation funding to assist homeowners when counseling is u�successful <br />• New Commerce Deparlmen4 assisiance hoiline for counselors <br />�x and�d Foreciosure Counseling Wvrkshops to be held around the state <br />Governor Pawlenty announced a series of expanded mortgage Foreclosure Counseting Workshops around the <br />state that bring lenders and borrowers iogether in. one locafion. These woekshops, sponsored by the Minnesota <br />Home Ownership Center, wil! be greatly enhanced with additional lender parlicipation. Lenders are 6eing coniacted <br />directly by Department of Commerce to participate in these evenis. <br />Mor4gage lenders and servicers will meet d.irectly wiih homeawnets lo review their individual situation, and when <br />possible, modify the terms of ihe loans in an efYort to prevent 4oreclosure. <br />The (irst four expanded workshaps will be hekd: <br />iuesday. More information is available at <br />www.hc�cmn.orq. <br />At Foreclosure Counseling Workshops, homeowners can ask questions and receive iree and confidential advice <br />from non-profit foreclosure counselors and mortgage lenders. The events are free and open to the public.
