HRA Meeting
Minutes – Tuesday, June 16, 2009
Page 6
Additional discussion included the many ideas fielded by the HRA’s Finance Sub-Committee
and development of a tactical list from those ideas; recognizing that funding would dictate
what could be accomplished.
Chair Maschka asked that staff scan the Strategic Plan and e-mail a copy to individual
members, who would in turn review the Strategic Plan, and come to the Strategic Planning
meeting prepared to discuss any items that may be missing, and their comments on specifics of
the Plan.
Ms. Kelsey noted the need to look at broadening or reducing the document, since some had
developed and the market had changed since first initiated in 2002; and the need to review how
the market had affected the Strategic Plan, and any areas not being covered.
Staff concurred with members that, Mr. Trudgeon would serve to facilitate and track
discussions, with a Recording Secretary present to provide detailed notes of the meeting; and
advised that they would coordinate with members via e-mail to determine a definite date for
the Strategic Planning Meeting, on a Wednesday in the next few weeks.
11.Information Reports & Other Business (Verbal Reports by Staff and Board Members):
a.Outcome of Realtor Day, June 11, 2009
Ms. Kelsey provided a summary of the first Realtor Day held in Roseville, with forty (40)
realtors in attendance; providing excellent comments and eliciting great enthusiasm from them
in selling in Roseville. Ms. Kelsey noted that the day would not have been as successful
without the full cooperation of all the City Departments, and Roseville School District No. 623
representatives. Ms. Kelsey noted the favorable real estate values in Roseville, compared to
surrounding metropolitan communities, from 2007-2008, making property purchase in
Roseville a solid investment. Ms. Kelsey advised that presenters came up after the meeting,
speaking in support of another Realtor Day next year, preferably in the spring of 2010 to
coincide with continuing education timing requirements for realtors. Ms. Kelsey advised that
staff was contemplating a March 2010 date for next year’s event.
Mr. Trudgeon concurred with Ms. Kelsey’s observations, and thanked her for her logistical and
preparation work to make the day a success.
Ms. Kelsey provided members with the final marketing and information packets that had been
distributed to realtors at the meeting; noting that she would be coordinating the information for
welcome packets for those moving into the City of Roseville.
Members concurred that the marketing materials were impressive.
b.Foreclosure Update in Roseville
Mr. Trudgeon noted that foreclosure numbers seemed to be running somewhat ahead of those
in 2008, but not significantly; following the huge spike seen at the beginning of 2009. Mr.
Trudgeon noted some clusters that staff was paying close attention to, without any obvious
areas of concern based on available data.
c.Joint HRA/City Council Meeting on July 13, 2009
Members and staff discussed the upcoming joint meeting, noting those items for focus,
including highlighting accomplishments over the past year; specific notation of the marketing
materials; and more discussion of a draft of the upcoming City newsletter article specific to the
HRA page, featuring a service provider in the community each time; and how to consider
ongoing information, consistency, and/or relevancy for topics.
