Cathy Bennett
Bill Majerus
For review by the Citien Ad visory Group-Rental Housing
The property next door to me at 4 59 South McCarrons is a "poster child" for
why the City of Roseville needs an ordinance or ordinances for point of sale
inspections and point of rental inspecti ons to preserve the housing stock in
Roseville (note copies of corres pondence that follow this note). I have asked
the City Council a number of times, mo st recently in disc ussions with Craig
Klausing by phone and about a year ago when the Roseville City Council had a
forum at the National Guard Armory to elicit citizen comments to initiate
such an ordinance which coul d, and should in my view, be funded by fees
levied against homeowners and property owners that cover the expenses of
program management.
The recommendations outlined in the Roseville HRA HousingLink publication
look promising. I encourage the Roseville HRA to act as soon as possible on
these recommendations and to do so aggr essively (either we have rules or we
don't!).
I would add a provision that some so rt of fire prevention protection
inspection also be made to insure public safety.

Since most homebuyers seek the advice of a paid inspection by a professional
in their purchase contract as a contingency clause why can't this information
be used by the City of Ro seville to at least partially cover costs?

I hope to be able to attend the public hearing on Oct 17th.

Regards,

Diane Hilden
President, Lake McCarrons Neighborhood Association
466 Bayview Drive, Roseville
651-488-3678
dianehilden@comcast.net

From: Diane Hilden [dianehilden@comcast.net]Sent: Mon 10/2/2006 10:08 PM
To: Cathy Bennett
Cc:
Subject: Rental Housing Recommendations/Citizen Advisory Group
A ttachments:
Pa g e 1of 5
10/9/2006 file://C:\DOCUME~1\cath y \LOCALS~1\Tem p \W2XEDY1J.htm
