Partner Updates <br />Lyndon- As part of The Landmark Series, Ann Riley of the Waterways Restoration Institute and <br />David Crockett, Council Member for the City of Chattenooga, Tennessee will speak on <br />Economics and the. Environment: Sustaining a Balance on the Mississippi River on Friday, <br />March 21st. <br />`Barb- The Minnesota Extension Service web page has information on the potential for flooding <br />on various rivers and streams as well as reactive measures. Also, on April 22nd there <br />will be a meeting in St. Cloud regarding fund allocation for surface waters used for water <br />r supply <br />Charlotte- Dakota County will be hosting project WET and project WOW workshops on April 12th. <br />On April 9th, amacro-invertebrate field project will be held on-site. Come dressed for <br />the outdoors. The cost is $10 and attendees are encouraged to bring a student. For <br />more info, call:Charlotte at 891-7734. <br />Larry- The Science.M.useum.has received a water quality inltlative grant for its Three Rivers <br />project. The program targets the seven county comrriunities who use the Mississippi <br />River for water supply. Eighteen schools will be involved with the program, twelve <br />funded by the grant and six additional schools funded by the City of St. Paul. <br />~~Susan- Susan is involved in the Watershed Resources Youth Stewardship Project. She has been <br />working with the Rice Creek Watershed District and the Minnehaha Creek. Watershed <br />District on non-point source education with middle school and upper elementary <br />students as part of the school curriculum. The students work on projects to meet real <br />needs such as streambank erosion control and water quality testing. Susan also works <br />with local agencies to create partnerships with schools. <br />Gene- Minnehaha Creek Watershed District will be extending Susan and Rich Cairn's contract <br />for an additional 18 months to continue their youth stewardship project.. Also, Gene has <br />additional copies of the video about Minnehaha Creek available for viewing. The <br />Watershed District is involved in emergency preparedness for potential spring snow melt <br />floods. Lastly, Gene will be part of a panel on soil and water conservation which is being <br />hosted by BWSR. <br />
