WSP 03/12/96 Meeting Minutes 2 of 4 Linda- The OEA has approved the final version of its strategic plan and business plan. In 1997,, the organization is committed to point and non-poiritsou~ce education and is looking to partnerships as a means of.~nhancing~all needs. The`Mintlesota OEA is scheduled to -:. . receive a national awarc~.~ftir,it~'environmental education-,.program from the Association of Metropolitan Sewerage'Agencies, which is:a technical professional organization. ` ' Paul- s Ad:d~t.a -River program, which deals with solid waste issues. The Paul heads the DNR program provides instruction, gloves and bags to volunteer groups. The Adopt-a-River program and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area are hosting a teacher orientation for the River Science project on April 5th. The River Science project is for students in 4th to 6th grades and will be held in May. The program involves a Big River Journey from Harriet Island to Pike Island where students will stop at learning stations. x Annette- .:. Annette is'the Metro Region Trout Stream Watershed Coordinator for the DNR: There are 14 sustainable trout streams ~in the metro area, She will be coordinating with the Watershed Management Organizations, Watershed District. Councils, and the DNR _fo~ the. preservation ~of the streams..The focus right now will be on Valley, Brown, Old Creek, and Vermillion: G V Marty- Marty works for SEH consulting firm, coordinating the rasstake NMO in the Shoreview Roseville area. He would like to build on other programs in setting up an educational program. Z. Watershed Partner Survey . Lyndon and John are trying to wrap up the Partner survey. Anyone who has not turned theirs in, please fill it out and send to: John Lamb, Minnesota Project, 1885 University Ave.. W., #315, St. Paul, MN 55104. Also, Andrea (659-3105) at the Center for Global Environmental Education is compiling the Partner list for the Watershed Partner handbook. To complete the list, she needs an organizational description and / or mission statement from each of the Partners. 3. Exhibit Development Center flag The exhibit will debut at the Mall of America, outside of Underwater World on March 25th. The four display tables are entitled: "What Is a Watershed?", "What Is Your Watershed Address?", "Y ur Street Flows to the River", and "Clean Water Starts With You". Each display will rest on a table with a title in back and a tablecloth. A 5th table and tablecloth will be added for acknowledgments. It will hold two panels: 1) Produced by, definition, mission, 2) List of organizations. The Science Museum is able to duplicate-pieces for a fee if there is a future need for replicas. Also, a brochure is being prepared for the rack of carry away items. The brochure will -list the Watershed Partners members, its mission and description, and how to get the Watershed at an event (Andrea at CGEE will handle the calls).
