In 1997,, <br /> the organization is committed to point and non-poiritsou~ce education and is looking to <br /> partnerships as a means of.~nhancing~all needs. The`Mintlesota OEA is scheduled to <br /> -:. . <br />receive a national awarc~.~ftir,it~'environmental education-,.program from the Association <br /> of Metropolitan Sewerage'Agencies, which is:a technical professional organization. <br /> ` <br />' <br />Paul- s Ad:d~t.a <br />-River program, which deals with solid waste issues. The <br />Paul heads the DNR <br /> program provides instruction, gloves and bags to volunteer groups. The Adopt-a-River <br /> program and the Mississippi National River and Recreation Area are hosting a teacher <br /> orientation for the River Science project on April 5th. The River Science project is for <br /> students in 4th to 6th grades and will be held in May. The program involves a Big River <br /> Journey from Harriet Island to Pike Island where students will stop at learning stations. <br /> <br />x Annette- .:. <br />Annette is'the Metro Region Trout Stream Watershed Coordinator for the DNR: There <br /> are 14 sustainable trout streams ~in the metro area, She will be coordinating with the <br /> Watershed Management Organizations, Watershed District. Councils, and the DNR _fo~ the. <br /> preservation ~of the streams..The focus right now will be on Valley, Brown, Old Creek, <br /> and Vermillion: <br /> G <br />V <br />Marty- Marty works for SEH consulting firm, coordinating the <br />rasstake <br />NMO in the Shoreview <br /> Roseville area. He would like to build on other programs in setting up an educational <br /> program. <br />Z. Watershed Partner Survey . <br />Lyndon and John are trying to wrap up the Partner survey. Anyone who has not turned theirs <br />in, please fill it out and send to: John Lamb, Minnesota Project, 1885 University Ave.. W., #315, St. Paul, <br />MN 55104. <br />Also, Andrea (659-3105) at the Center for Global Environmental Education is compiling the <br />Partner list for the Watershed Partner handbook. To complete the list, she needs an organizational <br />description and / or mission statement from each of the Partners. <br />3. Exhibit Development <br /> <br />Center flag <br />The exhibit will debut at the Mall of America, outside of Underwater World on March 25th. The <br />four display tables are entitled: "What Is a Watershed?", "What Is Your Watershed Address?", "Y ur <br />Street Flows to the River", and "Clean Water Starts With You". Each display will rest on a <br />table with a title in back and a tablecloth. <br />A 5th table and tablecloth will be added for acknowledgments. It will hold two panels: <br />1) Produced by, definition, mission, 2) List of organizations. <br />The Science Museum is able to duplicate-pieces for a fee if there is a future need for replicas. <br />Also, a brochure is being prepared for the rack of carry away items. The brochure will -list the <br />Watershed Partners members, its mission and description, and how to get the Watershed at an event <br />(Andrea at CGEE will handle the calls). <br />
