BWSR Meeting Minutes <br />June 27, 2001 <br />Page Four <br />*~ <br />01-43 <br />Agency Reports <br />Mark Dittrich, Department of Agriculture, reported that Farm Fest will be held July 7-9. <br />MDA is going through an organization evaluation process. Mark stated that rock inlet <br />demonstrations will be held over the next. few years. <br />Art Persons, Department of Health, reported that Il~DA's Environmental Health Division <br />on Drinking Water and Wellhead Protection continue with the ongoing workload of <br />surface and subsurface water assessments. Art reported that 28 organizations have <br />been contacted requesting their assistance in establishing an ad hoc work group to look <br />at how these assessments can get done, are separate plans needed, and making the <br />public aware of the existing problems. <br />Wayne Edgerton, Department of Natural Resources, reported that antlerless deer <br />permits will be increased by 52,000 permits this fall. Wayne reported that DNR now <br />has a program far cast-sharing and technical assistance to alleviate the geese <br />population problems, possibly a permit to kill geese. Wayne asked that you contact <br />your area wildlife manager to work through this process. Wayne stated that DNR <br />concerns regarding the conservation provisions to the federal Farm Bill appropriations <br />have been provided to Ron Harnack and Doug Thomas. Wayne looks forward to <br />working with various agencies on a state policy position on the provisions of the state <br />Farm Bill. Wayne reported that a CREP video is being developed to provide <br />information on CREP. The video will be completed on Friday. Wayne will bring a copy <br />to the next board meeting.. <br />Jim Anderson, Minnesota Extension Service, reported that H.H. Cheng has had <br />discussions with NRCS, MDA, and BWSR regarding comments he will make at a Farm <br />Bill conference tomorrow, where he will deliver Minnesota's message on the Farm Bill. <br />Jim reported that there is a wetlands manual in the works under the direction of Greg <br />Larson and John Jaschke, as well as the U of M, and NRGS. The wetlands manual will <br />be distributed this fall. <br />Consent Agenda <br />Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District Management Plan -General <br />Amendment -Jack Frost reported that the metro subcommittee met on June 21, and <br />recommends approval of the amendments, which are consistent with their plan. Moved <br />by Jack Frost, seconded by Dwain Otte, to accept the metro subcommittee <br />recommendation to approve the Ramsey-Washington Metro Watershed District <br />Management Plan, general amendment. Motion passed on a voice vote. <br />
