GLWMO MEETING MINUTES -JULY 26, 2007 4 Eckman reported that the Sierra Club has had buckthorn removal~rq~a~ several times. She would like to see Ramsey County Conservatio ~evelop a long-term plan far the watershed that would educate neighbors and involve them in environmental conservation activities. She expressed concern about the dredging of ponds. More involvement in environmental conservation by residents could reduce sediment erosion and. save costs on dredging. She requested a discussion about cost-share on the next agenda when the budget is discussed. Aichinger suggested acost-share incentive to get people to change and improve the habitat. Root stated that he believes it is unrealistic to think a high level of volunteer effort can be obtained. However, he noted that there are provisions in the management plan that allows the Board to incorporate acost-share program. One is for restoration of disturbed shoreline, Item 4 in Section 5.6. The cali-rent plan would allow cost-share with board approval. Aichinger suggested that at a future meeting the Soard focus on the section of Aesthetics & Habitat Monitoring. A discussion is needed rather than a list of "nos." He suggested that it might be informati~~e to have Ryan. Johnson, Ramsey County Conservation, com@~~~to a Board meeting. He will call Mark Maloney to update the website and find DLit about conservation efforts done in 2005.
