City of Roseville - Housing & Redevelopment Authority Meeting Minutes for July 20, 20...Page 4 of 7 <br />The educational campaign can include ways that a renter can become involved in their schools, <br />city programs and area social gatherings. <br /> <br />Action 2: <br />Create a neighborhood and\or rental ombudsman – a first key contact for new <br />residents renting in the community <br /> <br />Action 3: <br />Invite the Crime Free Multi-Family Association to meet with the HRA Board and the <br />fire and police departments to discuss possible joint ventures, especially related to life safety <br />and disaster planning. <br /> <br />Action 4: <br />Invite the City Park and Recreation Commission to begin programs targeted <br />specifically at residents of rental housing with first year planning and seed money from the HRA. <br />The HRA Board should meet with the Park and Recreation Commission to discuss possible joint <br />ventures. <br /> <br />Action 5: <br /> Create an Annual Roseville Rental Housing Fair to promote the safety, livability, and <br />importance of rental housing within Roseville. <br /> <br />Action 6: <br /> Because there is a higher use of public transit by rental housing residents, invite the <br />City Public Utilities and Transportation Commission and the Metropolitan Council’s Public <br />Transportation and Transit Agencies to meet annually with the HRA Board to discuss possible <br />joint ventures. <br /> <br />Action 7: <br /> Invite the Roseville Block Nursing Program to meet with the HRA Board to discuss <br />possible joint ventures, especially as relates to the senior rental population and their health <br />problems. <br /> <br />Action 8: <br /> Invite the ten Church Senior Housing Collaborative to meet with the HRA Board to <br />discuss improving the “template” for cooperative housing and possible joint ventures. <br /> <br />Chair Majerus commented that item 4, action 4 is where the HRA can make a difference by <br />linking all activities with others. Should HRA reach out (go to through Chair and Board) to other <br />groups? Member Bean commented that the most “bang for the buck” comes from outreach to <br />the rental community with other agencies. Member Hermes commented that the HRA should not <br />re-invent the wheel. Member Millasovich noted that this is a partnership of entire city. <br /> <br />Cathy Bennett indicated that multi-family study suggested action steps should be viewed is short <br />and long term with the goals and policies to remain in place. There would need to be updates <br />every two years to the study data but that the suggested action steps would only be able to be <br />implemented if there is budget dollars to support it.
