7. Venue, equipment Rental 800 <br />The League of Human Rights and the Human Rights Commissions of Brooklyn Park, Roseville, <br />and Golden Valley. They will be jointly responsibile for the fiscal accountability of this grant. <br />The Following Partners are cooperating in the design, logistics, activities and formation of <br />the invitation list:. <br />-The Ramsey County Department of Juvenile Justice, Michael Belton, Deputy Director of <br />Juvenile Corrections <br />-The Midwest Coalition of Human Rights, Rochelle Hammer, Coordinator <br />Capacity Building and Outreach <br />Relate the project to your mission or long-term plan, human rights audience, and capacity <br />building. <br />Capacity Building` <br />The League's purpose is to assist county and <br />other municipal human rights/relations <br />commissions in Minnesota to carry out the <br />purpose of the ordinances of resolutions <br />for which they were established in the <br />area of human rights. Over the years, the <br />League has a long history of providing <br />capacity building to local Human Rights <br />Commissions including building the <br />capacity to work with law enforcement <br />and to address issues of social justice. <br />The activities proposed will carry on that <br />tradition. <br />Strategic Planning <br />The Strategy Statement states: "The League <br />of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions <br />will provide proactive leadership and take <br />action on human rights issues in order to <br />achieve its overall purpose and thereby <br />increase human rights for all citizens in <br />Minnesota. The proposed activities are in <br />keeping with this strategy. <br />The League's Goal is to collaborate, plan <br />and work effectively with local Human <br />Rights Commissions. This activity will <br />build the League's capacity in the area of <br />working with local commissions and <br />sponsoring solution-based initiative for <br />social justice. <br />Social Justice <br />The League's Mission and work over the years has involved actions on behalf of furthering <br />social justice including their work in schools, work as mediators, work with local human rights <br />commissions to assit them to develop local plans which seek to redress hate bias crimes, as <br />examples. For the Juvenile Justice issues described in this grant proposal the League will do the <br />following: <br />1. Local Human Rights Commissions, as part of their role in promoting social justice, can be the <br />conduit of information dissemination to local professionals involved with youth of color in <br />their communities about the reasons why they more often face juvenile detention and how the <br />use of the RAI can diminish this likelihood. <br />
