Item Description: i� Request for Council Action Date: November 26, 2001 Item Number: c-6 Manager Approval Agenda Section � n � , _ Consent 2002 Dental Insurance Background: The City of Roseville contract for dental insurance will expire on December 31, 2001 with Delta Dental. Staff issued an RFP 2002 insurance coverage in October and received responses from four companies in November. Following receipt of the proposals, staff shared the information with City employees. According to surveys conducted in September and November, employees expressed a preference for the Delta Dental proposal that includes a deductible. The City Council reviewed the Delta Dental one-year proposal at the November 19, 2001 Work Session. At the meeting, the City Council recommended that staff bring the proposal to the regular meeting of November 26, 2001 for formal action. Polic,y Implications: The City provides dental insurance to 55 single and 48 family members. Employees assume the total cost of dental insurance premiums. The rate for 2002: 1. Delta Dental Preferred Plan 2001 Premiums S ingle $ 20. 85 Family $ 54.75 2. Delta Dental Alternative Plan (With deductible) 2002 Premiums Single $21.75 Family $ 57.15 Financial Impl ications: The cost of the dental premium is the responsibility of employees that participate. Council Action Requested: Motion Authorizing the City Manager to Sign an Agreement with Delta Dental for the Provision of Employee Dental Insurance of the Period from January 1, 2002 to December 3 l, 2002.
